Haley’s Giggle

September 2, 2008: 12 steps! by herself!

September 3rd, 2008

Gustav and Bristol have nothing on Haley, who, without fanfare, walked from the window by the front door over to the living room. We all watched. Schneider tried hard not to make too big of a deal of it as she watched Haley from inside the dining room, lest she knock Haley over with her enthusiasm.  Haley did it a couple more of those solo walks, and it was as monumental as Neil’s and Michael’s respective moonwalks. She has yet to repeat, but. she’s getting there! The trampoline is doing her wonders, mostly giving her confidence on her legs.

Eating is the same. I bought veggie bacon, but she would have none of it.

It’s entirely possible that she has a mild allergic reaction to soy, which of course would be terrible, since that’s the mainstay of her diet at the moment, and what goes into her feeding tube.

Labor weekend was a little sad as Haley was unable to participate in the water activities of the weekend. But she got extra long bathtime, so she can splash as much as she’d like.

We have a slew of appointments in the next few weeks. In the meantime, I owe you all latest pictures. to come, I promise.

Hugs, kisses, and all the sunshine in the world to Dave. Welcome home. We’ve missed you.

    Hey–
I’ve missed so much! I am glad that Haley is moving forward, in every way. She’s such a strong, dear girl. Does she like veggie hotdogs? The texture may be nicer than bacon (assuming soy isn’t the problem). And if she could dip them in olive oil or parve salad dressing, that’s a calorie fiesta right there. I’m sure you’ve thought of this already.

OK I am on the hunt for yummy foods for haley. I have a YUMMY rice and bean recipe. Let me know if you want it. So great to hear about Haley’s progress. Let me know when she is ready for a toddler playdate in Seattle…we can get Talya (not quite a toddler) and your cousin Noah (also not quite a toddler, but close!) to hang with Haley. I am thinking of your remarkable resiliance, Tans. And Haley’s too of course!!! LoveAmy
