Days 104-107 (June 28-July 1)
Things have been so hectic, that I just haven’t had a chance to write. Between getting our home back in order, the kids settled into a new routine, setting up shop back in our clinic, arranging for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, finding a new nanny, and finding myself a new job, I have not had much free time.
I do want to check in though, and I will say that blog entries will be coming more like once every few days, or when there is something to report. There will be a blog entry at least once a week. I hope you put our blog on a gadget on your desktop so you are alerted to when I write a new entry. If not, just check the blog every couple of days.
Haley has grown increasingly lethargic. I hope her blood cell count isn’t too low. I really would like to prolong it until after the 4th. Still, she is as cheery as a daisy, and exciteable as a puppy.
Anna is getting used to her old surroundings quickly. She is fast friends with her old friends, and they seem not to have missed a beat. Thank goodness for Mel and Dana, who have offered to take Anna almost every afternoon for our first week, and even next week. It’s a tremendous help to just get some stuff done, or clean, or put something away, or…
Tomorrow we go to clinic. I’ll know a bigger update for Haley then.
We have been guests at Dana Little Jackson and Mel Oncu’s houses.
Funny moment of the day(s) was how excited Uncle Dave got when I told him I was on my way to Dana Little Jackson’s. She is, as well as all the other regular commentors, a celebrity.
The other funny moment has been Anna who keeps calling her home “washing-toon.”

So glad you are settling into Washing-toon. It seems hectic, but you sound pretty good. Were there any doubts that Anna would adapt so quickly!? She is a power house! Hope Haley has a good clinic day. Her cheeriness and excitability sound like good signs — they don’t seem to mesh with the lethargy. Maybe it is only the exhaustion of the move home.
We will happily settle for a once a week updates, if that is easiest for you to handle. We are grateful for the information and are happy to continue to be a part of your lives. Ironically, I am going to New York later this week. As much as I would have loved to see you all, it is better that you are esconced in your Washing-toon digs.
Lots of love to you all.

How quickly Anna has adopted a New Yorker’s attitude toward Washington! Don’t worry, Anna–you can get Zomick’s challah at Brookline Market. I hope clinic day goes well.

Tansy,
I’ve missed writing the last few days. I, too, am in transition with the impending move south in the not too distant future (like Monday the 9th–Yikes!!) I know how disruptive moving is, and that’s just under normal circumstances.
I laughed heartily at Washing-tooh, and am going to adopt that name for it myself. It does get a little like loonie toons around here. I wonder if you can count Anna’s comment as her first political observation.
I will give a call this week. Would love to stop by before I leave. And just to let you know, I am so grateful that you will continue to check in with all of us. It has come to matter greatly to me to see how our Daisy girl Haley and the loquacious Princess Anna are doing. much love cristina

Welcome home to Washing-toon…
We have been keeping up with your blog and look forward to reading it even if it is once a week.
Sorry we haven’t written directly to Haley but I am working on it.
Spoke with Grammy and Gramps on the day you were traveling home.
Hope the visit to the clinic is a good one.
Much love to all.

The lethargy you described also doesn’t mesh with those gorgeous photos you showed me of Haley looking gorgeous, smiley, and as healthy as a horse! One look at that face and you can see why she pulled through this so strongly. I do hope that her next transfusion gives her more strength and energy. It takes energy to be that cute, after all.
Wow do I feel special after reading this blog. And doubly special because I’ve been able to hear Anna’s funny quips in person! At one point today, Anna and Jessie and my son Cov were all cuddled in our bed (with a soundtrack of giggles and fake snores to convince me that they WOULD all sleep if I left them there together) and I looked at them and thought, this is one of those moments. And then, admittedly, Mel and I broke up the moment and put them all in their own little spots to sleep (which they all did, which was quite nice). And then they woke up and we did a little ballet.
Next up, seeing that sweet Haley in person! Hoping you all get some rest tonight. love, Dana
